Oh! What a Week- a few reminders at the bottom of this post!

Happy Sunday everyone!

Oh what a week! We had a lot of fun and did a lot of learning this past week. As a Teacher I am always amazed at how much each student wants to learn and be challenged. It is always a joy to have students come up to me and say that they love what they are learning in school; and that they are learning new things. It is truly a time for me to also be THANKFUL for all my wonderful little kiddies!

Our Thankful board is up outside our classroom and its wonderful to see how so many students are thankful for their friends, their mommies and daddies, school and even that they learn at school ;-).

We have our paragraph writing board up as well- this truly amazes me as students come into Grade 1 not wanting to write- well, they are apprehensive about writing but by the end of Term 1- they love to write their ideas and thoughts, they love sharing what they know; they want to write in their journals and want to express themselves- I am very PROUD of them all.

This year, students either wrote about their favorite animal or about themselves- giving us clues by telling us things about themselves- rather than them telling us their names.
Paragraph Writing Board!
We have lots of fun trying to guess who wrote what! This week is Exam week - school ends at 2:45 instead of 3:30- we do not have EPP's this week!

Tuesday 19-11-12: Day 6 is our center day!
Wednesday 20-11-12: Day 1 Swimming Please ensure your child brings in their swim bag; if your child is not swimming please send in a note in their homework diaries.

Centers Notice and Swimming!

This week, we are staring to use centers during our last session on a Day 6. Every day 6 I would like to use that last session as our center time. We will have 3 groups of students with 3-4 rotations that they will be able to work on- we will be bringing in the iPads at that time with appropriate apps that we choose for students to use.

Our first center session is this monday and I am looking forward to it. We will have the iPads, a Language center and a Math center. All students will get to all rotations and will work on all activities.

Lots of pictures to follow I am sure. If you have ideas and would liked to come in and do a craft activity  with our students during a center that would be wonderful as you will get to know the wonderful kids we have in our class!

Have a wonderful week- Swimming is on Tuesday 12-11-13, DAY 1. If your child is not swimming please ensure  your child has a note in their homework diary!

Have a restful Sunday!

Costumes can be worn on FRIDAY October 25, 2013
There will be a door decorating contest for KG and Elementary

 1:00-1:30 the KG's Costume Parade
1:30-2:00 Trick or Treating for KG's and Elementary
2:00-2:30 Halloween Dance on the Lawn

We look forward to adding pictures of our door decorations as well as pictures of all our students in their costumes!

Have a wonderful Sunday

Diwali

Every year we love the months of October and November because of the many Indian festivals we have and learn about.

The one Grade 1 looks forward to most is Diwali, as we perform for all our friends, teachers and families. This year too we will be performing a dance that we have been practicing everyday.
We hope you will love it as much as we love practicing it and having fun with it.
Before the break we send home a letter about this performance and the clothes students need for it. Here is  the letter!
