Calendar for October~

Calendar for the month! Our Newsletter comes out on the 1st and will also be sent home with your child in their homework folder!

All the things we learn in grade 1!

This last week flew by with it being half days for the students! Thank you all the parents who signed up and apologies for not being able to have conferences on Thursday! I will send out emails to re-schedule conferences as per your convenience.

Even with a short week we did a lot in grade 1! We began our week with discussing discipline and what it is- we discovered that sometimes we need to do things that we do not like to do and become risk takers!

We made sandwiches this past week and enjoyed eating them. In Math, we worked on odd and even numbers, skip counting and groups of 2's 5's and 10! We talked about directions, looked at compasses and went outside to work with them, and in science, we discussed different environments and how plants, animals as well as humans survive!

Here are a few pictures!

Student Led Conferences!!

A gentle reminder- our student-led conferences are on Wednesday and Thursday of this week! Hope we see all of you at school!

The Week That Was!

The last week was super busy week in Grade 1A! We had a lot of fun watching and cheering for our house teams on Wednesday for the swim gala. We also had our swim lesson which we all enjoyed. As always, Tuesday's ice cream and doughnut wednesdays are what we look forward to.

This week we talked about being dependable and we are very proud of ourselves because out teachers can depend on us to try our best in everything we do. We watched a fun video about being dependable.

Swimming Reminder!

Please send in swim bags on Monday as we have Swimming this week is on WEDNESDAY 18th, September 2013.

Wednesday is House T-Shirt Day!

The short week!

Although this past week was a short week, it was packed with lots of fun and learning. We are getting the hang of bringing back our reading books after reading them, and are getting more and more familiar with our daily routines.

We had our first assembly and we are very proud of 2 of our classmates who were acknowledged for being open minded! Well Done!

We began working on our spelling, reading and writing work. We discussed living and non living things and went into deeper discussions about living things and classified them into groups. We love working with maps and watching the Hi5 video on directions, and we are getting better at skip counting by 2's, 5's and 10's.

We had our second swim lesson and we all loved it very much!

Here are a few pictures of this past week!

Ganesha

Today, we talked about Ganesha and we were able to immerse a Ganesha into the water and predict what would happen to it.

What would happen to Ganesha when we put him into water?

We are watching carefully to see if
anything happens immediately

And he is in!!!!!!

The past week!

We had a very busy week last week with lots of activities- we began work on the smart board, we worked on our classroom expectations, and we learnt about the Jewish New Year as well as Ganesha.

It was a busy week and we loved every moment of it!

Here are some pictures of the past week!
