Learning the week of Valentines Day an 100 days of School Celebrations!

Happy Sunday,

Looking through all the pictures we took over the past week amazes me as all our students have been working so hard and have accomplished so much. They rise to the challenge everyday and I become more and more proud of them as the days go by.

We did lots of work leading up to Friday- February 14th- our day of celebrating love for each other and being 100 days smarter.

In Language Arts we continue to work on Word choice; recounts, guided reading and then reflecting on the reading in small groups. Students love to show how they read and the new vocabulary they can incorporate in their writing.

In Science, we continue to review as well as work on Materials. This week, we went outside to look at different materials around the elementary courtyard. It was a fun activity as we had to really think about what the materials were made of and what they were used for... we love going outside and experiencing all that we have learned in theory- we try to put it into practice.

We completed our family tree presentations this week with more interesting facts about families- we discovered that families are similar in many ways, however, we come from different places and have lived all over the world but we are still the same- we love our families, our families protect us and we go on new adventures with our families.

In Maths, we have begun discussing time- to the hour as well as working on our number sense problems- word problems as well as 2 digit addition with our regrouping (carrying over)... all students loved the challenge and it was amazing to watch students work on their math skills with such joy!

We had our Wednesday Assembly and we loved watching and participating in the Moose Dance- We had students who got apples for being RISK TAKERS and a student for winning the literacy day writing competition- Well Done!

This week, Students got time to play and work together after they completed their work- they did lots of fun things in class and play well with each other-

So much learning has taken place this past week and with the new week coming around far too quickly ;-) we look forward to learning ad reviewing more new things in Grade 1A!

I hope you have  a wonderful week ahead and both Ms. Abhaya and Myself look forward to seeing all our students on Monday!

Happy and Restful Sunday Everyone!
